Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Junior Catholic Daughters |
The Knights of Columbus in New York founded the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in 1903. In 1908, the first court in the Linocln Diocese was established in Fall City. Seven more courts were subsequently established in Lincoln, David City, Plattsmouth, York, Hastings, Nebraska City, and Wahoo. Mosignor Barry was the Catholic Daughters' State Chaplain for twenty-five years. There are currently 886 women registered as Catholic Daughters in the Lincoln Diocese. Some of their activies incluedes making rosaries for the missions, arranging for Masses for the deceased, organizing a priest appreciation day, financially supporting diocesan programs, sponsoring educational contests, and praying at abortion clinics. Junior Catholic Daughters strive to develop as Christians, learn to serve others, grow spiritually, and be creative and flexible. At age eighteen or upon graduation from High school, members are eligible to join the Catholic Daughters.
