The international Cursillo Movement originated in Spain in the early 1940's with the goal of establishing the primacy of Christ in society. Bishop Juan Hervas of Mallorca and Eduardo Bonin were the primary leaders. During this three-day encounter with Christ, those attending listen to talks given by priests and laity, share the Eucharist, and pray together. The first Cursillo in the Lincoln Diocese was held in 1965 at Pius X High School. Since 1987, twenty men's and twenty-one women's Cursillo weekends have been held in the Lincoln Diocese. Following the weekend, "fourth day" and monthly "ultreyas" (reunions) build community.
