In 1822, the Dominican Sisters of St. Catharine were founded in Kentucky. The Sisters have served in several institutions in several institutions in the Lincoln Diocese: St. Mary, Dawson; St. Stephen School, Exeter; Immaculate Conception Academy, St. Michael School, and St. Cecilia School in Hastings; St. Patrick School, and St. Catharine Hospital, McCook; and St. Teresa School, St. Patrick School, and Pius X High School in Lincoln. A group of Dominican laity in McCook continues to be closely associated with the Sisters. Currently, there is only one Sister teaching in the Lincoln Diocese at Aquinas School, David City.
