Named Endowment Funds - Opportunities for Giving

The Leonard and Marlene Benes Donor Advised Fund was created in 2004
DILLON SCHOLARSHIP
FUND
"Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom
of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14
The Dillon Scholarship
Fund was the first named endowment fund created with the Foundation. The scholarship
fund began shortly after the Foundation was incorporated in 1999. The Dillon
Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to Catholic school students who
live in Lancaster County and have financial need. In order to qualify for
the scholarship, a family must meet the income requirements set by the Nebraska
Department of Education's free or reduced meal program.
Many families who send their children to Catholic school struggle to pay for
tuition. The need for assistance is growing. Because of lack of funds available,
last year forty-four families did not receive any assistance from the scholarship
fund.
NAMED ENDOWMENT FUNDS
The Dillon Scholarship Fund is an example of a named endowment fund within the Foundation. A donor may establish an endowment fund for any Catholic organization or program sponsored by or located in the Diocese of Lincoln. The minimum beginning balance to establish a named endowment is $100,000.
DONOR ADVISED FUNDS
A donor advised fund is
a similar to a named endowment fund with one important difference. Each year,
donors may advise the Foundation on how the fund should distribute its annual
proceeds. This allows the donor or a family to take a greater role in the
activity of the Foundation.
